In July I signed up for a fitness class called Zumba. Some of you may have heard of it and it may be new to some of you. Let me tell you, I have taken fitness/workout classes in the past. I just don't stick with them. If they don't keep me interested, then forget it. I just won't go. Zumba is different. It is so much fun. Here is a little about it from the Zumba site.
"The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!"
Go to the Zumba site and find a class near you. It is so much fun! And the burning calories doesn't hurt either. :)

First Day of School
Yesterday was back to school day for us. I can't believe I am the mother of a 3rd grader. :( Makes me sad.
The boy was really excited for school to start. He leaped out of bed in the morning and was ready to start his day. Normally it takes some nudging to get him moving in the morning. I went in to work a little late so I could go into school with him. We got a few quick pictures outside of the school, I walked him to his locker and said our goodbyes. I got a little teary eyed as I was leaving but he was just fine. He had a great day but wasn't too excited about the homework. We had to have a little discussion about how the homework routine would go this year. Now that it is out of the way I think we will have a good year!

Hemlock Ring Blanket
Pattern can be found here.
This blanket was such a fun knit. It goes fairly fast and it is just challenging enough to keep a person interested. These would make fantastic gifts. In fact, I already have the yarn to start the next one.

It was my birthday the other day and much to my surprise, I received this lovely piece of equipment. I am so excited but I have a lot to learn! Any advice?

Oh my....
Have you checked out this blog? If not, you definitely should! Ana White from Knock Off Wood has created some fantastic plans for DIYers. I never thought I would be able to build a piece of furniture. The more I explored her blog and read about all the people that actually built this furniture, the more I realized that I could do it (I did have some help from the Mr.). I went to the lumber store and stocked up with what I needed. The piece of furniture I built is in the final stages and I will be back in the next few days to show you!
Now....go check out Ana's blog....Knock Off Wood.

Hideous
The Boy (my 7 year old son): Mom, I got a package in the mail from grandma.
Me: What did you get? (I knew what it was)
The Boy: It's valentines from the kids in grandma's daycare.
Me: Look closer.
The Boy: No really mom, it is.
Me: Those are your school valentines that you left at grandma's when you were there last weekend.
The Boy: You are hideous.
Me: Ahhh....okay.
Must be his word of the week. I have heard him saying it to his video games. :)

Locally Grown Food....
Just yesterday I mailed in my order form to join my local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). In June I will receive my first box. I can hardly wait. We were a little concerned that we wouldn't be able to consume all of it in a week's time so for the first year we are going to split it with friends of ours.
Do any of you take advantage of a local CSA?

Sorry...
I have been so bad about posting lately. I don't have any great excuses. There hasn't been anything stopping me besides myself. I have been in somewhat of a rut lately. Nothing major....just in a rut. I am digging myself out. I have more sewing to do. I realize that I still haven't shown the last sewing that I did. I promise I will soon. It is winter in Minnesota, as you know, which means very little time for picture taking when one gets off of work. I will be better. Soon I will come here with something exciting and interesting for you to look at. Until then, please accept my apologies.

Neglect
I have neglected my blog for the last couple of weeks. Sorry about that dear bloggie! I didn't mean to....it just happened. I have been sewing though. Not quite as much as I wanted but I have. I will share some. Soon. Very soon. I have to be home in daylight to get good pictures. Maybe today.
My boy had a wrestling tournament on Sunday. He got 2nd place. He was a little bummed but we explained that 2nd place is great. We are so proud of him!

Goodbye 2009
Here is how we spent out time waiting to ring in the new year.
Tristen practicing his head stands.
My niece doing the same.
And now without the door to hold her up.
Tristen, my niece and my nephew. Oh and I see Libby, our dog, hiding there in the back.
It's just about time. As you can see, my feet were up at this point. I was getting pretty tired. That's what happens when you are my age ;)
Happy New Year!!!
I don't make New Year's resolutions. I always have things in mind that I would like to do or how I would like to change my life but I don't make that resolution because if I don't follow through I get disappointed. Do you make a resolution?
Here's hoping that all of you and your families have a blessed new year!
